Resilience Building Toolkit

You are welcome to use these resources for working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students at boarding school; please note though that they are still under development and not evaluated

Supporting the wellbeing and resilience of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander boarding students is a national priority. The Resilience toolkit provides a suite of resources and ideas for schools and boarding facilities to use to enhance the experiences and support they offer to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students. Central Queensland University (CQU) and Education Queensland Transition Support Service (TSS) Resilience research project examined the literature and evidence base on Social Emotional Learning strategies and resilience for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students and worked with students, parents and schools to identify the six resilience building domains used in this toolkit. These domains were identified as being essential components to support Indigenous students’ wellbeing at school. Relating to each domain, you will find questions to consider, checklists and ideas for implementation and links to resources. Planning documents for your school to use are found in the ‘Planning tools’ section of this website.
